Zinc

This test is done to measure zinc, an essential trace element required for immune defense, enzyme activity, wound healing, DNA synthesis, and growth. Abnormal levels may result from poor dietary intake, malabsorption, chronic illness, or excessive supplementation and can affect immune function, skin health, and metabolism.

• If there are signs of zinc deficiency (poor wound healing, hair loss).
• If immune dysfunction or recurrent infections are present.
• If malnutrition or malabsorption is suspected.
• If a healthcare provider is monitoring mineral status or supplementation.
