This test detects antibodies produced in response to infection with Schistosoma parasites, which cause Schistosomiasis (bilharzia). It helps support diagnosis and assess previous or current exposure.
If schistosomiasis (bilharzia) is suspected.
After travel to or residence in endemic areas.
During evaluation of unexplained urinary or gastrointestinal symptoms.
When eosinophilia or parasitic infection is suspected.
As part of infectious disease investigations.
No fasting is usually required.
A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
Inform the healthcare provider about travel history and symptoms.
Additional stool, urine, or imaging tests may be recommended.
Follow all laboratory instructions before sample collection.
