Cyfra-21 (lungs tumor marker)

This test is done to measure CYFRA 21-1, a fragment of cytokeratin 19 released by epithelial tumor cells. It is most commonly elevated in non-small cell lung cancer, especially squamous cell carcinoma. It is mainly used to monitor treatment response, detect recurrence, and assess disease progression rather than for screening.
