This test is done to detect the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria using PCR, which identifies its genetic material in the body. It helps confirm an active chlamydia infection, a common sexually transmitted infection that may affect the genital tract and can sometimes cause complications if untreated.
- No fasting is required.
- Avoid urinating for at least 1–2 hours before a urine sample (if urine is used).
- Follow any sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
- Inform your healthcare provider about any antibiotics you are taking.
