This test is done to measure apolipoprotein A1, the primary protein component of HDL (“good cholesterol”). It plays a key role in reverse cholesterol transport, helping remove excess cholesterol from tissues. Low levels may be associated with increased cardiovascular risk, while higher levels are generally protective.
