Lab Assurances
This test is done to evaluate the ratio between apolipoprotein B (Apo B), found in atherogenic particles (LDL, VLDL), and apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1), the main protein in HDL. A higher ratio indicates increased cardiovascular risk, while a lower ratio reflects better lipid balance and protection against atherosclerosis.
- Fasting: Not always required (follow lab instructions).
- Avoid heavy meals before testing if possible.
- Inform your healthcare provider about lipid-lowering medications.
- Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
