Tissue-specific autoantibodies (AMA, SMA, LKM, PCA, ARA, EAT)

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to detect a panel of organ-specific autoantibodies associated with autoimmune diseases affecting the liver and other tissues. It includes antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA), smooth muscle antibodies (SMA), liver-kidney microsomal antibodies (LKM), parietal cell antibodies (PCA), adrenal cortex-related antibodies (ARA), and enteric autoantibodies (EAT). These markers help identify autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, and other organ-specific autoimmune disorders.

  • If autoimmune liver disease is suspected.
  • If there are unexplained elevated liver enzymes.
  • If symptoms suggest autoimmune or organ-specific inflammation.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating multi-organ autoimmune disorders.
    • No fasting is required.
    • No special preparation is usually needed.
    • Inform your healthcare provider about immunosuppressive medications.
    • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
