Skin culture
This test is done to detect and identify microorganisms such as bacteria or fungi causing a skin infection. A sample is collected from the affected area and cultured in the laboratory. It helps determine the exact cause of infection and guides targeted treatment, including appropriate antibiotics or antifungal therapy.
- If there are signs of skin infection (redness, swelling, discharge).
- If skin lesions are persistent or not responding to treatment.
- If fungal or bacterial infection is suspected.
- If a healthcare provider needs to identify the causative organism.
