  • During evaluation of anemia or unexplained pain episodes.
  • Before marriage, pregnancy, or family planning screening.
  • If there is a family history of sickle cell disorders.
  • As part of newborn or inherited blood disorder screening.
  • No fasting is required before the test.
  • A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
  • Inform the healthcare provider about previous blood transfusions if applicable.
