This test is done to detect IgG antibodies targeting phosphatidylserine, a phospholipid component of cell membranes involved in coagulation and cell signaling. These antibodies are associated with autoimmune conditions, particularly antiphospholipid syndrome, and may contribute to increased risk of blood clots, recurrent pregnancy loss, and other thrombotic complications.
