This test is done to detect colonization or carriage of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a resistant strain of bacteria associated with difficult-to-treat infections. It helps identify carriers who may develop or spread infections, including skin, wound, or hospital-acquired infections linked to MRSA infection.

  • Pre-hospital admission or surgery screening
  • History of recurrent skin or soft tissue infections
  • Contact with confirmed MRSA cases
  • Healthcare workers screening
  • Outbreak or hospital infection control screening

  • Suspected or risk of MRSA infection carriage
  • No fasting is required
  • Nasal and/or throat swab sample is collected
