This test is done to detect infection with specific strains of Chlamydia trachomatis that cause lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). It helps confirm the presence of this sexually transmitted infection, which can affect the lymphatic system and may lead to swollen lymph nodes, rectal inflammation, or genital lesions if untreated.

  • If you have symptoms such as genital ulcers, swollen lymph nodes, or rectal pain.
  • If you have had unprotected sexual contact with a partner at risk of sexually transmitted infections.
  • If a sexual partner has been diagnosed with LGV or chlamydia.
  • If a healthcare provider suspects LGV based on symptoms or risk factors.
  • No fasting is required.
  • Avoid urinating for at least 1–2 hours before a urine sample (if urine is used).
  • Follow any sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
