This test measures lambda free light chains, components of immunoglobulins produced by plasma cells. It helps evaluate monoclonal gammopathies, multiple myeloma, and other plasma cell disorders.

  • If a plasma cell disorder is suspected.
  • During evaluation of monoclonal gammopathy.
  • When abnormal protein studies are present.
  • During monitoring of multiple myeloma or related disorders.
  • As recommended during hematology investigations.
  • No fasting is usually required.
  • A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
  • Inform the healthcare provider about hematologic or immune-related conditions.
  • Share previous protein electrophoresis or light chain test results if applicable.
