This test is done to measure GOT, also known as AST (aspartate aminotransferase), an enzyme found mainly in the liver, heart, and muscles. Elevated levels may indicate liver cell injury, hepatitis, muscle damage, or other tissue injury. It is commonly used as part of liver function testing.
