🔬 Why Get Tested?

This test measures glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity in red blood cells. It helps diagnose deficiency that can lead to hemolysis (red blood cell breakdown), especially after certain drugs, infections, or foods.

  • If hemolytic anemia is suspected.
  • After unexplained jaundice or dark urine episodes.
  • Before taking certain medications known to trigger hemolysis.
  • If family history of G6PD deficiency exists.
