This test measures the amount of folate (vitamin B9) in the blood. It helps identify folate deficiency, evaluate nutritional status, and investigate conditions such as anemia, fatigue, malabsorption disorders, or inadequate dietary intake.

  • If symptoms of anemia or fatigue are present.
  • When folate deficiency is suspected.
  • During evaluation of poor nutrition or malabsorption disorders.

  • Fasting for 8–12 hours may be required before the test.
