  • If there is ear pain with discharge.
  • If ear infection is persistent or recurrent.
  • If treatment for otitis externa or media is not effective.
  • If a healthcare provider suspects bacterial or fungal ear infection.
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • Avoid using ear drops or antibiotics before sampling if instructed.
  • Do not clean deeply inside the ear before collection unless advised.
