This test is done to detect the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria using PCR, which identifies its genetic material in the body. It helps confirm an active chlamydia infection, a common sexually transmitted infection that may affect the genital tract and can sometimes cause complications if untreated.

  • If you have symptoms such as unusual genital discharge, burning during urination, or pelvic pain.
  • If you have had unprotected sexual contact with a new or multiple partners.
  • If a sexual partner has been diagnosed with chlamydia.As part of routine screening for sexually transmitted infections.
    • No fasting is required.
    • Avoid urinating for at least 1–2 hours before a urine sample (if urine is used).
