This test is done to measure levels of catecholamines released by the adrenal glands and nervous system. These hormones help regulate stress response, heart rate, and blood pressure. Elevated levels may indicate hormone-secreting tumors such as pheochromocytoma or neuroblastoma, or other conditions affecting adrenal function.

  • If there are episodes of high blood pressure, headaches, or palpitations.
  • If pheochromocytoma or adrenal tumors are suspected.
  • If there is unexplained excessive sweating or anxiety-like symptoms.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating adrenal hormone disorders.
  • Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol before and during collection if advised.
  • Certain medications may need to be stopped under medical supervision.
  • Stress and strenuous exercise should be avoided during collection period.
