Catecholamines (blood: adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine)

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure catecholamine hormone levels circulating in the blood. These hormones are released by the adrenal glands and play a key role in stress response, blood pressure, and heart rate regulation. Abnormal levels may suggest conditions such as pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, or other disorders affecting the adrenal or autonomic nervous system.

  • If there are sudden episodes of high blood pressure, headaches, or palpitations.
  • If adrenal or neuroendocrine tumors are suspected.
  • If there is unexplained sweating or anxiety-like episodes.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating hormonal causes of hypertension.
  • Rest quietly for 15–30 minutes before blood collection.
  • Avoid stress, caffeine, nicotine, and strenuous exercise before testing.
