CA-125 (ovary tumor marker)

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure CA-125, a protein that can be elevated in ovarian cancer, especially epithelial ovarian tumors. It is mainly used to monitor treatment response and detect recurrence rather than for routine screening. Elevated levels can also occur in benign conditions such as endometriosis, menstruation, or pelvic inflammatory disease.

  • If ovarian cancer is suspected or being monitored.
  • If there is a known ovarian tumor.
  • If evaluating treatment response or recurrence.
  • If there are unexplained pelvic symptoms in high-risk patients.
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • No special preparation is usually needed.
  • Avoid testing during menstruation if possible (can affect results).
  • Inform your healthcare provider about pregnancy or gynecological conditions.
