Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to assess whether your blood shows resistance to activated protein C, a natural anticoagulant that helps prevent excessive clotting. APC resistance is most commonly associated with the Factor V Leiden mutation and can increase the risk of abnormal blood clots. It is used in the evaluation of inherited or acquired thrombophilia.

  • If you have a history of unexplained blood clots.
  • If there is a family history of thrombosis or clotting disorders.
  • If you have recurrent deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
  • If a healthcare provider is investigating thrombophilia risk.
  • No fasting is required.
  • Inform your healthcare provider about anticoagulant medications, as they may affect results.
  • Testing may be influenced during acute clotting events or illness.
