This test is done to measure the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which is produced by the pituitary gland and stimulates the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. It helps evaluate adrenal and pituitary function and is used in diagnosing conditions such as adrenal insufficiency, Cushing syndrome, or pituitary disorders.

  • If there are symptoms of adrenal insufficiency such as fatigue, weakness, or low blood pressure.
