Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure zonulin, a protein involved in regulating tight junctions between intestinal cells. It plays a role in controlling gut permeability (“intestinal barrier function”). Altered levels may be associated with increased intestinal permeability and have been studied in relation to conditions such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and other immune-mediated or metabolic disorders.

  • If there are chronic gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating or diarrhea.
  • If celiac disease or inflammatory bowel disease is suspected.
  • If increased intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”) is being evaluated in research settings.
