Urine Calcium/creatinine

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure the ratio of calcium to creatinine in a urine sample. It helps evaluate how much calcium is being excreted by the kidneys. Elevated levels may indicate hypercalciuria, increasing the risk of kidney stones, while low levels may reflect calcium metabolism disorders.

  • If kidney stones are suspected or recurrent.
  • If calcium metabolism disorders are being evaluated.
  • If there are abnormal blood calcium levels.
  • If a healthcare provider is assessing kidney or metabolic function.
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • A random urine sample is usually sufficient unless otherwise instructed.
  • Avoid excessive calcium supplements before testing if advised.
  • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
