This test is done to detect antibodies against a group of infections that can be harmful during pregnancy and to the developing fetus. TORCH stands for Toxoplasma gondii, Other (such as syphilis and varicella-zoster), Rubella, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Herpes simplex virus (HSV). It helps determine past exposure, recent infection, and immunity status.
