This prenatal screening test measures four substances in the mother’s blood — AFP, hCG, estriol, and inhibin A. It helps assess the risk of certain chromosomal conditions and neural tube defects during pregnancy.
  • During the second trimester of pregnancy.
  • Typically between 15 and 22 weeks of gestation.
  • When recommended as part of routine prenatal screening.
  • If there is increased risk for chromosomal abnormalities.

  • No fasting is required before the test.
  • A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
