PLAC (Lp-PLA2 )

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure Lp-PLA2, an enzyme produced by inflammatory cells within atherosclerotic plaques. It reflects vascular inflammation and plaque instability. Elevated levels are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke, and it helps refine cardiovascular risk assessment beyond standard lipid testing.

  • If cardiovascular disease risk needs further assessment.
  • If there is a history of heart disease or stroke.
  • If lipid profile results do not fully explain risk.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating vascular inflammation.
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • No special preparation is usually needed.
  • Inform your healthcare provider about lipid or anti-inflammatory medications.
  • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
