This test is done to detect infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the bacteria that causes gonorrhea. It helps confirm an active sexually transmitted infection that can affect the genital tract, rectum, or throat. Early detection allows timely treatment and helps prevent complications and transmission to partners.

  • If you have symptoms such as abnormal genital discharge, burning during urination, or pelvic pain.
  • If you have had unprotected sexual contact with a new or multiple partners.

  • No fasting is required.
