This test is done to measure globulins, a group of proteins including antibodies (immunoglobulins) and transport proteins. It is often calculated as part of total protein testing (total protein minus albumin). Abnormal levels may indicate infections, inflammation, liver disease, immune disorders, or certain cancers such as multiple myeloma.
