This test uses quantitative PCR to measure Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) DNA levels. It helps evaluate active infection, viral replication, and monitoring in immunocompromised patients or suspected EBV-related disease.

  • If active EBV infection is suspected.
  • During evaluation of infectious mononucleosis complications.
  • In immunocompromised patients with viral monitoring needs.
  • When unexplained fever, fatigue, or lymphadenopathy occurs.
  • As part of viral load monitoring.
  • No fasting is usually required.
  • A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
  • Inform the healthcare provider about immune status or antiviral therapy.
  • Proper sample handling is required for PCR accuracy.
  • Follow all laboratory instructions before sample collection.
