This test is done to measure creatinine, a waste product produced by normal muscle breakdown. It is filtered by the kidneys and excreted in urine. Elevated blood levels may indicate reduced kidney function or kidney disease. It is commonly used to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR), a key indicator of renal function.
