Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure C-peptide, a substance released in equal amounts to insulin when the pancreas produces it. It helps determine how much insulin the body is making naturally. It is useful in distinguishing between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, evaluating insulin production, and investigating causes of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

  • If diabetes type needs to be clarified (type 1 vs type 2).
  • If there are episodes of unexplained low blood sugar.
  • To assess pancreatic insulin production.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating insulin therapy response.
  • Fasting (usually 8–12 hours) may be required.
  • Avoid taking insulin or glucose-lowering medications if instructed by your healthcare provider.
  • Blood sample is used for testing.
  • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
