Beta CrossLaps (Beta-CTx)

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to measure Beta-CrossLaps (CTX), a fragment released during the breakdown of bone collagen. It reflects the rate of bone resorption (bone loss). It is commonly used to evaluate osteoporosis, monitor response to anti-osteoporotic treatments, and assess overall bone turnover in metabolic bone diseases.

  • If there is suspected osteoporosis or low bone density.
  • To monitor treatment response in osteoporosis therapy.
  • If there are frequent fractures or bone weakness.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating bone metabolism disorders.
  • Fasting (usually overnight, 8–12 hours) may be required.
  • Morning sample is preferred due to daily variation in levels.
  • Avoid calcium supplements before testing if advised by your healthcare provider.
  • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
