Albumin / Globulin ratio

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to evaluate the balance between albumin and globulin proteins in the blood. The A/G ratio helps identify liver disease, kidney disorders, immune conditions, and certain cancers. A low ratio may indicate increased globulins or decreased albumin, while a high ratio may suggest reduced globulin levels.

  • If liver or kidney disease is suspected.
  • If total protein levels are abnormal.
  • If evaluating immune or inflammatory conditions.
  • If investigating possible plasma cell disorders.
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • No special preparation is usually needed.
  • Follow any instructions provided by the laboratory or healthcare provider.
