This test is done to measure SHBG, a protein produced mainly by the liver that binds to testosterone and estrogen in the blood. It controls how much of these hormones are biologically active. Abnormal levels may affect fertility, androgen activity, and hormonal balance, and are often evaluated in cases of suspected hormonal disorders.
