This test is done to identify the point during exercise at which lactate begins to accumulate rapidly in the blood. This “lactate threshold” reflects aerobic fitness and endurance performance capacity. It is commonly used in sports science, athletic training, and exercise prescription to optimize training intensity and performance.
- Fasting: 4 hours required.
- Avoid intense exercise 24–48 hours before testing.
- Avoid caffeine and stimulants if instructed.
- Wear appropriate sports clothing and footwear.
- Follow all exercise protocol instructions from the testing center.
