Estradiol (E2)

This test is used to evaluate irregular periods, abnormal vaginal bleeding, infertility, symptoms of menopause, or the function of the ovaries. It is also used in monitoring hormone replacement therapy or fertility treatments.

Fasting is typically not required. For women, your healthcare provider may schedule the blood draw on a specific day of your menstrual cycle, as estradiol levels fluctuate significantly depending on the phase of the cycle.
