This test is done to evaluate the balance between albumin and globulin proteins in the blood. The A/G ratio helps identify liver disease, kidney disorders, immune conditions, and certain cancers. A low ratio may indicate increased globulins or decreased albumin, while a high ratio may suggest reduced globulin levels.
- If liver or kidney disease is suspected.
- If total protein levels are abnormal.
- If evaluating immune or inflammatory conditions.
- If investigating possible plasma cell disorders.
