This test is done to measure the amount of calcium eliminated in urine over a full 24-hour period. It helps evaluate how the body regulates calcium balance. Abnormal levels may indicate kidney stone risk (hypercalciuria), parathyroid disorders, vitamin D imbalance, or bone metabolism conditions.

  • If recurrent kidney stones are suspected.
  • If calcium metabolism disorders are being evaluated.
  • If parathyroid or bone disease is suspected.
  • If a healthcare provider is assessing abnormal blood calcium levels
  • Fasting: Not required.
  • 24-hour urine collection is required.
  • Maintain normal diet unless instructed otherwise.
