This test is done to measure TSH, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that controls the thyroid gland’s production of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). It is the primary screening test for thyroid disorders and helps diagnose hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, as well as monitor thyroid treatment effectiveness.
