This test detects antibodies against Trichinella species, parasitic worms acquired from undercooked meat. It helps support diagnosis of Trichinellosis.

  • If trichinellosis is suspected.
  • After eating undercooked or raw meat (especially pork or wild game).
  • When muscle pain, fever, or swelling occurs.
  • During evaluation of eosinophilia.
  • As part of parasitic infection screening.
  • No fasting is usually required.
  • A blood sample will be collected from a vein.
  • Inform the healthcare provider about dietary and travel history.
  • Additional stool or clinical tests may be needed.
