Prothrombin antibody

This test is done to detect antibodies directed against prothrombin, an important protein in the blood clotting cascade. These antibodies are associated with autoimmune conditions, particularly antiphospholipid syndrome, and can interfere with normal coagulation. Their presence may increase the risk of abnormal blood clot formation or pregnancy complications.
