This test is done to detect sexually transmitted infections in the oral cavity caused by Mycoplasma genitalium, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It helps identify bacterial infections that can affect the throat after oral sexual exposure, even when symptoms are mild or absent, allowing early diagnosis and treatment.

  • If you have a sore throat or persistent throat discomfort.
