MRI is used to examine many parts of the body, including:

  • Brain and spinal cord
  • Joints (knee, shoulder, spine)
  • Heart and blood vessels (cardiac MRI, MR angiography)
  • Abdomen and pelvic organs
  • Muscles, ligaments, and soft tissues

It helps detect conditions such as tumors, strokes, disc problems, inflammation, and internal injuries.

  • Persistent unexplained pain or neurological symptoms
  • Suspected brain or spinal cord disorders
  • Joint injuries or soft tissue damage
  • Cancer detection or staging
  • Vascular abnormalities (aneurysms, blockages)
  • Usually no fasting required (unless abdominal MRI with contrast)
  • Remove all metal objects before scanning
  • Inform staff about implants (pacemaker, metal devices, etc.)
  • Contrast MRI may require kidney function test beforehand
