MOG (Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein antibody)
This test is done to detect antibodies against MOG, a protein found on the surface of myelin in the central nervous system. These antibodies are associated with MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), which can cause inflammation of the optic nerves, spinal cord, and brain. It helps distinguish MOGAD from multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder.
