This test measures Gastrin. It helps evaluate disorders related to abnormal gastric acid production, including peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis, and gastrin-secreting tumors (gastrinomas).

  • If recurrent peptic ulcers are suspected
  • During evaluation of chronic gastritis
  • If symptoms of excessive stomach acid occur
  • When gastrinoma (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome) is suspected
  • As part of gastrointestinal hormone assessment
  • Fasting for 8–12 hours is required
