This test detects the presence of cystine in urine. It helps screen for cystinuria, a genetic disorder causing excessive cystine excretion and recurrent cystine kidney stones.

  • If recurrent kidney stones occur
  • During evaluation of suspected cystinuria
  • When unexplained urinary stone formation is present
  • If there is a family history of cystinuria
  • As recommended during metabolic stone investigations
  • A urine sample is required
