This test is done to measure Beta-CrossLaps (C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen), a fragment released during bone breakdown. It reflects the rate of bone resorption and is used to evaluate bone metabolism, diagnose increased bone loss, and monitor response to osteoporosis treatment.

  • If osteoporosis or increased bone loss is suspected.
  • If monitoring response to osteoporosis treatment.
  • If there is risk of fractures or low bone density.
  • If a healthcare provider is evaluating bone metabolism disorders.
  • Fasting for 8–12 hours (often recommended, especially morning sample).
