This test is done to measure the level of aldosterone, a hormone that helps regulate blood pressure and electrolyte balance. It controls how much sodium and potassium the body retains or excretes. Abnormal levels may be associated with conditions such as primary aldosteronism, adrenal gland disorders, hypertension, or electrolyte imbalances.
